Information

With the Shelly EM Gen3 WiFi Energy Meter, you can wirelessly and accurately monitor and record energy consumption, such as from your solar panels. Through the output relay, you can connect the Shelly EM Gen3 to a contactor and create smart circuits for situations like overload, pre-set consumption levels, or even remotely shutting down your solar panels during negative energy prices. The open-source platform allows you to integrate the Shelly EM Gen3 with almost any home automation system. Shelly also offers its own free app, making it easy and affordable to set up a Smart Home system without the need for a Gateway/Hub.

Shelly EM Gen3 WiFi Energy Meter

The Shelly EM gen3 can monitor up to 2 circuits:
Measure 2x Consumption (W)
Measure 2x Energy (Wh)
Measure 2x Load (max. 120A)
Measure 2x Load Quality
Measure 1x Voltage (V)
Additionally:
365 days of built-in Energy (Wh) history
230VAC/2A Relay output for Contactor.

Install the Shelly EM Gen3 according to the user manual, connect via WiFi using the free Shelly app, and link the module. It couldn't be simpler! Don’t forget to order an extra 50A or 120A clamp! If you have a 3-phase system at home and want to measure different phases, consider the Shelly Pro 3EM. There is also the Shelly Plus PM Mini Gen3 Energy Meter.

The Shelly EM Gen3 Energy Meter with contactor relay switch supports 110-230VAC and has an ESP-Shelly-C38F chip 8MB flash memory built-in. The 8MB allows for more memory for updates and potential future Matter Firmware updates. It also includes Bluetooth for easy connection to your home Wi-Fi, overheat protection, enhanced security with MQTT + SSL, MQTT combined with Cloud, and scripting. Additionally, the terminals (screw connections) have been improved and are now suitable for up to 2.5mm², which was often an issue with the older variant and the 2.5mm² wire behind the wall switch.

Also works with

Homey
HomeKit
HomeSeer
Domoticz
Home Assistant
OpenHab
MQTT

* Apple HomeKit requires flashing or a Homebridge

Prefer not to use the free Shelly cloud service but still want to control your devices remotely? No problem. Shelly EM also supports basic MQTT (Message Queue Telemetry Transport) for reliable connections via a central broker: the MQTT-broker. The connected devices only communicate with the broker and do not know each other. Therefore, they do not need to know each other's IP addresses or technical details. This is safe and reliable, with real-time monitoring and easy integration. Want to know more? Read our Shelly WiFi Switch Blog.
