Shelly Pro 3EM Switch Add-On

With the Shelly Pro 3EM Switch Add-On, you can not only measure energy but also switch with the Shelly Pro 3EM, ideal in combination with solar panels and boilers, for example.

With the Shelly PRO 3EM WiFi Energy Meter, you can easily and accurately monitor and record energy consumption wirelessly or via an Ethernet cable for 3-phase or 3x 1-phase setups, such as your solar panels. A significant missing feature was the absence of a switch relay to, for instance, switch your boiler on during sunny weather when your solar panels generate enough power, or to turn off your solar panels when the energy tariff is negative. This is now a thing of the past with the Shelly Pro 3EM Switch Add-On.

Installation is straightforward. You simply click the Add-On onto the Pro 3EM, and the Add-On connects to the Pro 3EM via the GPIO pins. A dual DIN-Rail clamp is included so both can be securely attached to the DIN-Rail. The Add-On is powered by the Pro 3EM with 3.3 VDC and 12VDC. The galvanically isolated potential-free relay of the Add-On can switch up to 240VAC or 30VDC and 2A. In the Shelly Smart Control App, you can then add the Switch Add-On to the Shelly Pro 3EM via Settings-Peripherals.

NOTE: The Shelly Pro 3EM Switch Add-On requires a Shelly Pro 3EM and can switch a maximum of 2A. If needed, use a contactor to switch larger loads. Optionally, order a circuit breaker with overvoltage protection of 2A, with tripping characteristic C and nominal breaking capacity of 6kA (EN60898-1).

If you prefer not to use the free Shelly cloud service but still want to control your devices remotely, no problem. Shelly PRO 3EM also supports basic MQTT (Message Queue Telemetry Transport) for reliable connections via a central broker: the MQTT broker. The involved devices only communicate with the broker and do not know each other. Therefore, they do not need to know the IP addresses and technical details of the other participants.
