Finally, an affordable smart dimmer from Shelly that can also be used without the blue neutral wire, which is often missing behind your wall switch. Now, the Shelly package is truly complete for making all your lighting smart.

Switch on/off and dim your lights wirelessly with your smartphone from anywhere in the world. The best part is that your wall switch still works as usual. Easily create smart scenes (scenarios) and set timers in the free app for your home automation. For example, automatically turn on your lights at sunset or dim your lighting for the night between 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM. Voice control with Siri (requires flashing or Homebridge), Google Assistant, or Amazon Alexa is also possible; "Hey Google, set the table lamp to 40%".

The Shelly Dimmer 2 is a very cost-effective and smart small WiFi in-wall dimmer for your Smart Home System, small enough to be installed behind your wall switch. We recommend choosing a double push button that you connect to SW1 (Input 1) and SW2 (Input 2) of the dimmer, allowing you to use SW1 to turn the dimmer "on" or "off" (clicking) and dim up (holding), and SW2 to turn the dimmer "on" or "off" (clicking) and dim down (holding). NOTE: the Shelly Dimmer 2 does not work with your existing (rotary) dimmer!

Shelly has its own free app, making it easy and affordable to set up a Smart Home System without the costs of a Gateway/Hub. The open-source nature ensures that you can integrate the Shelly Dimmer with almost any home automation system.

Install the Shelly Dimmer 2 according to the manual, connect via WiFi with the free Shelly App, and link the module. It couldn’t be simpler! The Shelly Dimmer 2 works with traditional dimmable incandescent bulbs, halogen lamps, and LED lighting. For 110-240VAC, 0W-220W, this dimmer requires no minimum load, but it does need a blue wire. If you don’t have a blue wire, you will need a Shelly Bypass EU or a minimum load of 10W.

The Shelly Dimmer 2 has an ESP8266 with a 4MB flash chip built-in. This allows you to flash your own or alternative firmware. Flashing requires a USB-to-UART 3.3V and a minimum 350mA adapter, such as our FTDI adapter. The best part is, you don’t even need to open the Shelly. Flashing is easy via the directly accessible pins on the outside.
NOTE: NEVER connect the Shelly to the power grid while flashing!

If you prefer not to use the free Shelly cloud service but still want to control your devices remotely, no problem. The Shelly Dimmer also supports basic MQTT (Message Queue Telemetry Transport) for reliable connections via a central broker. The involved devices only communicate with the broker and don’t need to know each other’s IP addresses or technical details. Safe and reliable, with real-time monitoring and easy integration. Don't forget to calibrate your Shelly Dimmer 2 immediately after installation!
You can do this via the Shelly App; Shelly Dimmer 2 - Settings - Calibration and choose Leading or Trailing edge depending on your lamp or driver specifications. If nothing is specified, choose trailing edge as it is the most standard. Also, lower the dim level before starting the calibration.
